SfN Satellite Symposium: Targeted Neuroplasticity to Enhance Rehabilitation

10/04/2024

Symposium Description: The Symposium comprises 13 talks that describe many of the most exciting new protocols – non-invasive or invasive – that target beneficial plasticity to critical sites in the injured CNS, thereby enabling wider beneficial plasticity that markedly enhances recovery of function. Confirmed speakers to date include Stuart Baker, Jocelyne Bloch, Gregoire Courtine, Steven Cramer, Julius Dewald, James Grau, Ronaldo Ichiyama, Lee Miller, Dimitry Sayenko, Aiko Thompson, Douglas Weber, Monica Perez, and Jon Wolpaw.

Targeted Plasticity: The central nervous system remains capable of change, or plasticity, throughout life. This new knowledge is driving development of novel plasticity-inducing protocols for rehabilitation of neurological impairments. These protocols target beneficial change to CNS sites that are important in behaviors such as walking or reach-and-grasp. The targeted change benefits performance and enables better practice. In turn, better practice then leads to widespread beneficial changes that improve overall function.

What's Included: Registration includes light refreshments, lunch, and a lunch-time poster session. Registration is $100 ($50 for students, postdoctoral fellows, and residents). If you have any dietary restrictions or if the registration fee is an impediment, contact us at TNP@neurotechcenter.org.
