Sometimes words fail us, and this is one of them. You may have seen media coverage of the tragic death of one of our former PM&R residents, Dr. Todd Graham.
Todd was only 56 and in the prime of his life and career. He is survived by his wife Julie and their three children, as well as many family members, friends, colleagues and patients.
Todd specialized in PM&R and practiced at South Bend Orthopaedics in northwest Indiana. He also served as a consulting physician for the University of Notre Dame athletics program. .
While he was at RIC and Northwestern, Todd was an outstanding resident and leader, and distinguished himself by serving as Chief Resident

Graduating from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1986, Todd did his internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago (1986-1987), followed by his PM&R residency at RIC (1987-1990). He was appointed Chief Resident in his final year.
“While he was at RIC and Northwestern, Todd was an outstanding resident and leader, and distinguished himself by serving as Chief Resident,” said Dr. Elliot Roth. “He was dynamic, upbeat and very well liked by patients and colleagues. It is impossible to comprehend the death of someone who made such a difference to those who knew him and to society.”
A champion of giving back to the community, Todd was also committed to passing on the expertise of his career and profession. A local media report noted that while practicing medicine for more than 30 years, ‘Dr. Todd’ as he was known by his patients, also made sure students could afford a medical education. “Despite the fact that he didn't go to school locally, he saw the value of medical education here,” said IU South Bend Medical School Director, Dr. Mark Fox.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family - he will be sorely missed!
