The path to becoming a dentist.
If you are interested in specializing in oral health and becoming a dentist, ²ÝÁñÉçÇøis the place to start. Demand for dentists are very high, and ²ÝÁñÉçÇøgraduates routinely have among the highest dental school placement rates in the Midwest, and even the nation.
It is important to keep in mind that the pre-dentistry track is not an academic major; rather, it’s a suggested program of study that prepares students to apply to professional school upon completing their undergraduate degree. Pre-dental students can choose a major in any area.

In 2020, 90% of ²ÝÁñÉçÇøstudents applying to dental school were admitted. All of these students were biology majors.

Common Pre-Dentistry Majors
Biology Major
Biology is the most common undergraduate major for dentistry students. Students at ²ÝÁñÉçÇøare supported through collaborative advising with popular dental schools and will receive regular guidance on coursework, GPA and timely information pertaining to dental programs.
Biochemistry Major
A biochemistry major provides a solid background in biology combined with a strong understanding of chemistry focused on biological systems. The Bachelor of Arts track is excellent for students who are interested in becoming physicians, dentists or pharmacists.
Chemistry Major
As a chemistry major, students can take their knowledge and apply it in many different directions, including dentistry. About one-third of our chemistry majors go to graduate school and into areas of science or medicine, such as dental school.
